Environmentally friendly & always available - our pentanes
As an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional blowing agents, pentanes have proven their worth above all as refrigerants and in the production of insulating materials. Thanks to special underground storage and our own tank trucks, we can supply pentanes reliably all year round – flexibly and in any desired quantity. We distinguish between three types of pentanes, which we keep available for you at all times. Naturally, they are of consistently high quality and purity. In addition, we will be happy to advise you on the optimal use of our products and provide individual mixtures according to your requirements.
n-Pentane
n-Pentane also belongs to the alkanes and has the same molecular formula as isopentane (C5H12). Among the three pentanes, it is the linear representative of the three structural isomers. The boiling point of n-pentane under normal pressure is 36 °C. Like the other pentanes, the colorless liquid is hardly soluble in water but is soluble in most organic solvents. It is frequently used as a CFC-free refrigerant and blowing agent and as a solvent for foaming rigid polyurethane foams, phenolic resin and polystyrene.
Isopentane
Isopentane (systematically also 2-methylbutane or methylbutane) is an organic chemical compound with 5 C atoms and the molecular formula C5H12. The boiling point of the colorless and highly volatile liquid is 28 °C under normal pressure – making isopentane extremely flammable. This alkane is hardly soluble in water, but it is soluble in most organic solvents. Isopentane is used primarily for blending gasoline, as a blowing agent in the aerosol and insulating materials industries, and as a solvent for oils and greases.
Cyclopentan
Cyclopentane is a colorless and highly volatile liquid with the molecular formula C5H10. With a boiling point of 49 °C, it is highly flammable, as are the other pentanes. Cyclopentane is miscible with most organic solvents, but is practically insoluble in water. This hydrocarbon is used primarily in the foaming of refrigerators and other products of the refrigeration industry.
